The judge hit the gavel and declared the defendant innocent.
His lawyer congratulated him and said, "Now you owe me $1000 up
front, and $500 each month for the next five years." The
defendant said astonished, "This sounds as if I was buying a
Mercedes!" The lawyer smiled and said, "In fact, you are."
