Verification of journalistic T.V logos in European Union (Euro news, France24 and BBC)
Aim:
"Impacts of TV logos to absorb the viewers"
Definition of Logo:

A designed picture which is representing a specific topic, that consumers by looking, choose their favorite product or topic.

History of Logo

According to Frangialli, “Signs and symbols were humanity's first tools for communication. Semi logy (the science that studies sign and symbols within social life) allows understanding how the different uses of signs and symbols are established. ” (Frangialli, P 4, 2001).

Man needs identified. For this identity they need symbols for recognition.  This identity mongering had started well before any systematic written language evolved. The name ‘logo’ may seem to have come into existence only in recent years, but in fact it has been with us all along the annals of human history. At the first the logos were like symbols and were created many years ago with men that were living in caves. They were drawn to the symbols on the cave wall. After the symbols, engravings came which used to in empire era. Therefore, the symbol should be so grand, so different and so fearsome in some cases. Next came the torch that uses for the Olympic sport. Then came a more convenient and practical way of representing one’s identity – The Flag. The brightly colored pennants were used to represent each group when several groups met. Then came the Coat of Arms. After that Ancient Tattooing and finally the modern brands and logo created by designers.   (SpellBrand, 1998)

Introduction

Logo and sign design, its complexity and difficulties of  own, in fact, such a plan should be prepared graphic and illustrative view mirror or set the properties of their respective companies, and that its show overall objectives and policies in the form of lines and colors . Logo and design a logo in this era seems little by little a necessary work for branding and marketing. So the design of a logo depended on what kind of job or services is going to use it. Generally, there are several notes which have to be considered to do or maybe to avoid. The most important factor to design a logo is what kind of branding is this logo designed? For what kind of branding is this logo designed? By answering the above question, the designer can find out his orientation and way to design a convenient logo by inserting related elements of the brand. Don't forget that the logo is related to the brand, but it isn't the brand. In this area some question coming up:  The role of creative ideas and budget for the logo?  ? It seems very important to have creative and new ideas in advertising the job or service in parallel by the management of the budget. And how we can to analyze social feedback? Actually, there are several ways to know the social reaction about the brand (service or production). The main and brief way to test social feedback is in PR. It is very important here to mention that each brand has his especial competitor; so the brand owners who have ordered the logo to design don't forget the creativity in their competitions a by others.
And they are some things which are not recommended to adhere to the logo and its design:
Legal phrases like INC, LLC or…. These abbreviations confuse all customers who are going to with the production or use the service. By other hand, in regards all famous brands and logos, there is no abbreviation like above. Maybe logo owners prefer to do that to show their legalities but these abbreviations can confuse customers.
Tag lines which are recommended for advertising and marketing materials, but not for logos. In known logos in all entire the world, there is no tag line design for logo.
And finally, insert of website, addresses and phone numbers aren't recommended because these elements are usually changing like phone numbers. And by regard sing also famous logo in the world, there are no element as mentioned.
In this research, we are going to verifying the logo design and its several factors. It is very convenient to remember that the logo design subject is very huge and vast. As mentioned above, each service or production can have own logos; that is why this topic is very vaster. But this research is going to analyze and verify television logos especially journalistic TV channel Logos.

Verification of journalistic T.V logos in European Union
European continent is known as one of the most important zone in entire the earth. This continent consists 50 countries. But in reality, each 50 countries don't have the same economic-political powers in the continent and in the world. So the most powerful countries, among others have more powers. These countries have decided to have a common union, which has common money and other common factors which can give them more power. Right now, there are 28 members in this union.
One of the most important subjects now a day in political relations is covering news in the world which has become a kind of competition between media owners and especially governments. Each channel has its politics and views by which it is going to target its audience. Each channel by following its politics and views has designed his own logo. This research is going to have a list of these union T.V news logos and answer to several questions about logo designed by these powerful countries which are going to target, in many cases, entire the world.
This research has a new look at this topic and wants to know by which artistic elements, which can be inspired by several sources, are going to take visual attention of their audience.
As mentioned before, there are 28 countries which have constituted the European Union. Before everything, let’s have a look at the list of these countries:

Absolutely, in above list each country has its own T.V news but in comparison by other one maybe is not very important and considerable. For example by comparing Luxembourg and UK, it will be very clear the importance and power of many countries in the topic of targeting audiences by T.V news. By a linguistic look also, it is correct to explain that for example UK Island is more powerful in the union (which has BBC as NEWS agency in several languages which can target even the entire world) and other island like Luxembourg. In the list, maybe just 5 or 6 names are more considerable.
So France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Spain and UK are more powerful than others. But even in the recent list, maybe Portugal is not very powerful than others, but it is mentioned because of its different language.
By returning to the main topic of research, what are very important, T.V news logo and its design to be more attractive for the audience? Many countries have more economic-political power and hierarchical system, but have easier logo: why? For example why BBC which is from an old colonization like UK has a very simple logo just?
In this research we choice three journalistic European channels like Euro news, France 24 and B.B.C.
Euro News channel

Euro News channel created in 1993, Nineteen European countries are governed Euro news. In 121 countries, is the world's most-watched news network in Europe? With 167 million households in Europe, is the most watched news network in Europe. News, reviews, press, economy, Headline News, Europe News, sports, living in Europe, culture, future events, technology, and interviews are the main programs. Unique feature is that all the app streaming video are news anchors and viewers will not see any of the faces. The time now thirteen languages, including English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Arabic, Turkish, Persian, Ukrainian, Greek, Hungarian, and Polish (Polish only sounds Baantkhab on English programs) are selectable for streaming. Motto of Euro News: We believe that streaming to the audience's intellect and impartiality in their news coverage and we can provide the possibility of the news according to their needs.   (Wikipedia, 2013).
The name of Euro news at the first time audiences unspoken the channel is from Europe and the news screening in this channel are in Europe. The Euro news may have the most recognizable television logo in Europe. The logo has simplicity design and is the name of the channel. The color of the logo is black and white. So the contrast between black and white allow for the audience to see the logo easily. The size of the text in the logo is a logical means from some space we can read the text.  Unity among the various components has complied with logo. This logo is in particular for news. The most importance of these kind channels is reputable based on breaking news. The white circle inside of logo means the owners of this channel looking for universal pieces. This logo is the notation and is meaningful and final Coordination and harmony appears in this logo.
France 24 News Channel

Is the News Network channel by three languages like French, English and Arabic? It was established in 6 December of 2006.  France 24's programming is divided more or less equally between news coverage and news magazines or special reports.  The French government will provide funding network. Initially the network via satellite became available to approximately 75 million homes across Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
France: that means when somebody is watching this T.V channel, is actually targeted by the French government.
24: maybe it has two symbols 1 this channel brings news in 24 hours a day and 2 this is maybe 24th T.V channel in France.
Four circle lens: these lines evoke imagined earth orbits and mentions its worldwide goals which are maybe coming from the old French empire.
Blue and White colors: The blue is always known as the opposite color of Red and like above the BBC and also CNN (American competitor) has used the red as color in their logos. In 2006, year in that France 24 started its programs, it used blue. Does it have any special meanings?
By following this research, these T.V logos will be more and clearly verified by considering all important factors.

B.B.C News Channel

B.B.C News channel is the BBC's 24-hour rolling news television network in the United Kingdom. The channel launched as BBC News 24 on 9 November 1997.  Slogan "Whenever you need to know" Live the Story the World's Newsroom. In May 2007, the channel became available for UK viewers to view through the BBC News website through a live stream. In April 2008, the channel was renamed "BBC News" as part of a £550,000 rebranding of the BBC's news output, complete with a new studio and presentation.   (Wikipedia, 2013).
In many cases this logo is designed in black and white color. The red and white (like the above one) maybe bring the conception of power and a kind of alert by itself, but the main question is that: Why is it very simple? Just a man who doesn’t know even about logo and design can do that.
Generally logo elements are defined: color, shapes, text and so many other elements like these. But by which ways they are going to design their logos for being more attractive sounds very important.

As the statistic shows the influence of shapes are more than two others and Text has not any importance in comparison between two other factors.

 Conclusion
Finally, by reading the results of researches, it will be very easy to have the following conclusion:

  • Design a logo for T.V news channels sounds a very important to attract their audiences and has its especial influence on audiences.
  • The audience can understand as well the main sources which are known like sources of inspiration. Actually, it has to be inspired from a known and related source by the main topic of the logo (for example topic of T.V news).
  • The place of logo in the picture screen (as mentioned in this research UP-RIGHT) sounds very important.
  • As mentioned Shape sounds have the first importance between two other factors.  Color is on second place and finally Text has less importance between them in T.V logo design.
  • According to the logo labs site; “With the growing competition in the advertising business, it has become very essential to have a powerful identity where you can attract the audience towards your services. In the competitive industry, your advertising services should have the edge to captivate the audience towards you and this is where you need Logo.” So by this research we understood that a logo is kind of advertisement to be in completion in the market to sell the product. By logo you are using shots from the game; if you can identify the product without the company name. Some are easier than others.
  • So when we give the impression of being any logo to somewhere undeniably we can understand this logo belongs to which invention or corporation. According to Laura Stampler Logo and sign are really easy techniques to outline the invention. Logo's redesign, expecting people to recognize the mermaid sans the name. (Slamper, 2012).
